La Palma, August 15, 2012 – La Palma Intercommunity Hospital is proud to partner with the Boy Scouts of America in opening an Explorer Post in the hospital. Explorer Posts are created to bring career and other special-interest programs to young men and women ages 14-20.
Medical careers are the first-choice career interest of 5,700 high school students in Orange County. The La Palma Hospital Explorer Post will give our youth the opportunity to learn all about the career paths in this growing industry. Not only will students have access to hospital tours and informative discussions with key medical personnel, but will also gain leadership experience, life skills, and character education.
"We strongly believe in providing a caring and safe learning environment for the students in our community," said Margo Perusse, CNO of La Palma Intercommunity Hospital. "All of our hospital staff is very enthusiastic about the opportunity to share their health careers with the youth."
La Palma Intercommunity Hospital's Explorer Post #923 will begin its first meeting on Wednesday, September 12th. The meeting will last approximately and hour and a half. The initial gathering will provide attendees with important information required for all who work in the hospital, give a calendar of events for the remaining year, HIPPA compliances, and demonstrations of body mechanics for safe patient handling.
Please call Rachel Hogue, Marketing Director, (714) 229-4016, with any questions or desires to register for meetings.
