Virg Narbutas, Regional CEO, Orange County
Virg Narbutas has been Regional CEO for Prime Healthcare Management's Orange County Hospitals since October 2006. He is responsible for the management of two separately licensed general acute-care hospitals: 141-bed La Palma Intercommunity Hospital and 219-bed West Anaheim Medical Center.
Previously, Vanguard Health Systems owned West Anaheim Medical Center, where Virg Narbutas had been CEO since February 2006. From 1994-2006 he worked for Kindred/Vencor as CEO/Executive Director. He was responsible for the management of Kindred Hospital Westminster, Kindred Hospital Brea and Vencor Hospital Ontario. From 1984-1994, he worked for National Medical Enterprises, including as COO of Lakewood Regional Medical Center, from 1990-1994.
Virg is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He currently serves as a member of the Hospital Council of Southern California Executive Board. In addition, he has also served as Past President, Board of Trustees, United Hospital Association; past member, Board of Trustees, The Hospital Council of Southern California; and past member, Board of Trustees, California Hospital Association. He earned his BA degree in Biology, in 1979, and his Master of Public Health in Health Services Management, in 1985, both from UCLA.
Hilda Manzo-Luna, Chief Nursing Officer
Hilda brings over 15 years of health care experience to La Palma Intercommunity Hospital.
Hilda was director of Case Management at La Palma Intercommunity Hospital from 2009-2011. Hilda has been working since then as a Director of Case Management/UR at Western Medical Center Anaheim. In addition to directing the department, Hilda was part of the administration team there and assisted the hospital in performance improvement, cost effectiveness, risk management, business plan development and various other operational activities.
Hilda began her career as a floor nurse as was quickly promoted to a charge nurse and then case management. She also has kept her nursing skills current as a floor nurse in a step down unit by working per diem at UCLA up until 2013.
Hilda holds a BSN, PHN and MSN in Nursing Administration from Cal State University Dominguez Hills.
Hassan Alkhouli, MD, Regional Medical Director, Orange County
Hassan Alkhouli, M.D. joined the Medical Staff of La Palma Intercommunity Hospital in August 2005 and was appointed as the Medical Director in October 2006 when Prime Healthcare Services purchased the hospital. As Medical Director he monitors all clinical operations and acts as a liaison between the clinical staff and management. He is a private practice physician with Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and Emergency Medicine. He received his medical degree from the University of Damascus, School of Medicine and completed his post graduate training at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston MA; Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, Chicago IL; and King/Drew Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of California, Irvine and he is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.
Sami Shoukair, MD, Chief Medical Officer
Sami Shoukair, M.D. joined the Medical Staff of West La Palma Intercommunity Hospital in 1981 and has served as the Chief Medical Officer since 2006. During his years at La Palma Intercommunity Hospital, he has been an active participant in the Medical Staff, serving as both Co-Medical Director of Cardiology and Medical Director of ICU-CCU since 1993. He is a private practice physician with Board Certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine/Cardiovascular Disease. He received his medical degree from American University of Beirut; Beirut, Lebanon and completed his fellowship at State University Upstate Medical Center; Syracuse, NY.
